After ebb comes flow. We all know that. Yet we panic in ebb and feel overwhelmed in flow. We never learned to trust the cycles of life.
A deep trust in our intuition is needed here. Something far beyond what the world is telling us. We are alive in a cyclical world in times of change. At this point we are living in between two seasons where the climate is changing and we must prepare for what is coming.
In nature everything is cyclical and changing all the time. If we are able to trust these patterns and move along with the cycles – even as simple as allow yourself to sleep at night and be awake during the day. Or allow yourself to be cold in winter and hot in summer. Or pick the food the season offers and dry the herbs for winter – we weave ourselves back into a deeper knowing of where we belong.
So when the big cycle turns, we have built the trust that we can move and change along.
What we can do to prepare ourselves for big change, for big flow, is to let go of attachments outside of ourselves. Things like money, work, status and needing an audience are things that are made up and do not exist in nature. We can practice to let go of them and anchor deep in ourselves, in our love, in our souls.
We can prepare by turning towards everything that feels simple and honest and true. To retreat from the man-made complexities and return to the heart of being human. To the heart of who we are in essence.
Which is love.
We can prepare by turning to our plant friends.
In demanding and exciting times, I turn to Nettle.
Nettle nourished deeply, offers strength, builds confidence and resilience. Nettle goes deep, cuts loose outdated patterns, removing old waste and re-weaves connection. She’s our ally. She is everywhere.
She didn’t come here to be gentle. She comes when the soil is hungry. Because something strong was needed to return life.
That’s her work.
Her sting is a reminder. Wake up. Feel where your boundaries begin.
She sees you.
You, woman walking past me with your heavy thoughts and tired nervous system. I know you. I see the exhaustion of holding everything together. The long seasons of giving. The quiet depletion.
Come closer.
Harvest my young leaves in early daylight. Let them dry slowly. Let them darken into deep green.
Steep me long. Drink the minerals of the soil. The resilience of wild places. I rebuild your slowly. Cup by cup. Day by day.
I am Nettle.
The one who grows where life must return.
So for these times of change that are upon us, let’s drink nettle tea daily. Together. Knowing we are not alone. That we will never be alone.
Let’s drink nettle tea every day knowing that many other women are doing the same, knowing that together we weave a web of strength and love.
Let’s bring the medicine of nettle into a world where the essence of life must return. Which is LOVE
with many thanks to Noemi – Wild Mamma for her beautiful words on Nettle
