surrender II

I realize this whole blog is about surrender. You can call it the simple life, the truth, love, gratitude, inspiration, motherhood, creativity, name it what you like, it’s another colour of life and impotent if you don’t fully surrender to it. Believe in it. Trust it. Give your life for it.

I think that’s the hard core of what I try to do every day and the struggle I write about. I found this EE Cummings quote a long time ago and it has been at the top of my manuscript for years as a reminder.

To be nobody but
yourself in a world
which is doing its best day and night to make you like
everybody else means to fight the hardest battle
which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.”

– EE Cummings

But just the other day I found out I don’t need it anymore that way, I know this now on a deeper level, and there are other things I need to be remembered of on a daily basis.I replaced it by this quote from Rilke:

“Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always.”

-Rainer Maria Rilke

This is what I need to remember everytime I feel fear, I feel rejection, insecurity, anger, stress. Let life happen to you. Rilke also wrote this beautiful thing about it:

“Let everything happen to you
Beauty and terror
Just keep going
No feeling is final”

Though feelings can be the kind of trickers to make you think they are here to change us, that they themselves will change your life, but you now what? They never do. They change the moment, the experience, they colour it, but they never truly change anything. Only you can.

What could be more full, more exciting, more wholehearted, more fearless than accepting all of life, everything single tiny bit of it and surrendering to the unknown magic of this world.
